What's the course about?
This course is a pre-requisite for other courses. It is made up of 3 modules, each takes 2 hours to complete.
- Module 1 – clarifies terms and concepts
- Module 2 – explains why New Zealand is unique and why its biodiversity is under threat
- Module 3 – describes the different management principles and techniques used in New Zealand.
By the end of the course, you will know about key biodiversity principles, ecological processes and management processes.
Who is it for?
The course is for anyone who works or wants to work or volunteer in conservation, including:
- regional council staff
- members of community groups and trusts
- funding recipients.
Do I need to register?
If you are planning to attend a DOC field based course you should register your details before doing an online course.
Otherwise, you don't have to register your details, but it would be helpful to know who you are and why you are doing the course.
